This is probably the best genre to learn how to understand breathing as singing support and the overall airflow. In my experience teaching, when the air is well processed through the body then “the feeling’’ that the performer is so anxious to get will come alive, so will their authentic artistic personality. Furthermore, the high notes will be sang and not yelled or produced with a constraint throat, which will extend the singing lifetime of the artist dramatically. Singers who aspire to do this professionally shall expect to have multiple shows a week and that can drain your vocal folds without an exceptional technique. Fortunately, this isn’t the case of my students who can deal with multiple concerts a week and yes, they end physically tired at the end of the performance, but their voice is preserved.
